Signs You Need to Change Your Vehicle's Oil

If you don't want to drive your car into a shop simply to check if you need your oil changed, there are some tell-tale signs you can look for to decide if your vehicle would benefit from an oil change.

Dark and Dirty Oil

Clean oil is transparent and amber in color. As the car uses it, it fills up with engine exhaust particles and gets darker. You need to be observant and check your engine oil at least once a month because the change will not be immediately visible when this happens.

To check it, take the dipstick out and clean it before putting it back in the oil tank. Take it out once more, and if you cannot see the dipstick through the oil, then it’s time for an oil change.
